1. Introduction

Welcome to Professional Markdown (“we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Professional Markdown web application and related services (the “Service”).

By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Professional Markdown is a software-as-a-service platform that allows users to convert Markdown documents into professionally branded PDF and DOCX files. The Service includes a web-based Markdown editor, template builder, PDF generation engine, file storage, and related features.

3. Account Registration

To access certain features you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Keep your login credentials confidential
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
  • Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account

4. Subscription Plans and Payment

The Service offers a free tier and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed monthly through our payment processor, Stripe.

  • Prices are displayed in GBP and are subject to change with reasonable notice
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the billing period
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis at our discretion
  • Usage limits (e.g. PDFs per month) reset at the start of each billing cycle

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Upload, create, or distribute content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or infringing
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Use automated tools to scrape or overload the Service
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without permission

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in the Service — including its design, code, templates, and branding — are owned by Professional Markdown or its licensors.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose during the term of your subscription. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the Service.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of all Markdown content, documents, images, and custom fonts you upload to the Service (“Your Content”).

By uploading Your Content, you grant us a limited licence to process, store, and convert it solely to provide the Service to you. We will not access, sell, or share Your Content for any other purpose.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any content you upload, including logos, fonts, and text.

8. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also subject to our Privacy Policy. We process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the UK GDPR.

9. Service Availability

We aim to keep the Service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications that temporarily affect availability. We will endeavour to provide reasonable notice of planned downtime.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Professional Markdown shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or business opportunity.

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time through the Service or by contacting us.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or engage in conduct that we reasonably believe is harmful to the Service, its users, or third parties.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may delete your data after a reasonable retention period.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
